100 Episodes.

That fried chicken up there was from an earlier recording when we used to record locally. Ages ago. Mark’s mom cooked that fried chicken for us!

We’re recording the official episode #100 this very Thursday night. We’re not announcing the book club ahead of time, going to spring it on folks during the show. We’ll spring it on the winner of the contest, too. Let’s just say it’s going to be a big show, ya dig?

Not only that, but we’ll have a special announcement during #100 as well that will change Paperkeg forever. No hyperbole.

It’s been a lot of fun doing the podcast and being able to hang out with friends. Not only that, but we’ve made a ton more friends thanks to the show, and really comics in general.

Thanks again for your reviews and spreading the word, it’s great to get letters from brand new listeners we’ve never met before.

Free Comic Book Day 2013

This is real life.

At least two hosts of Paperkeg will be appearing at The Comic Book Shop in Delaware to talk books, slippers, dead hands, raquetball, Chris Samnee, running faces, and so much more.

This is our second trip to FCBD at our favorite shop. Beth Corto was there last year. This isn’t a picture of her.

I tried to look up more photos taken at last years event but, good christ, Dale’s Google + page is a mess.

Here is a picture of @pennooch, now a big shot comic reviewer.

Join us, won’t you? We’ll be at a table somewhere in or outside of the shop. Maybe we’ll take a break at the nearest brew-pup, savvy? Oh, also you can win free comics or some such. We think.

Look, we wish we could stop. We cannot. We. Must. Not. Continuing our tirade of reading Image Comics Launch Titles for the good of the show moves along. Next up is Youngblood!!! Get yer copies here!

Will Slim have found greater fame and fortune by the time this podcast is supposed to have been recorded and he tells the rest of us to stuff it? Hell, will Mark even be there? (!) (?!) He’s gone on record previously as stating “y’all gon’ have to do that one without me” (paraphrased, obviously).

Also, did I mention that the show will post late? Tuesday morning late? Jonesy is in the south. Slim is in the west. Dale is working all weekend like Tom Hanks in Joe vs. The Volcano (the beginning). You heard of this Alan Moore cat? He’s kind of a big deal and made some popular stories involving famous literary characters. Invisible Man, Jekyll & Hyde, Captain Nemo, and some random others. Let’s read it.

Together, they must combat an insidious threat that will decide supremacy of the London skies, but their success may unleash a far greater threat. With no shortage of action, Moore and O’ Neill sustain a high level of suspense, intrigue, mystery and terrific wit that all contribute to an indispensable read. O’Neill’s art, so memorable in Marshal Law, produces a London filled with vivid, magnificent architecture and a malevolent atmosphere ripe with thrills and danger. An unmitigated triumph—pure and simple.
